Author Topic: SKS- Cleaning, How Is The Barrel Removed From The Stock? (Read 302 times)

I am in the process of cleaning my first Yugo and it is full of Cosmoline.
I have disassembled everything I can and it's soaking in kerosene. My question is can the barrel be separated from the stock and if so can someone give me detailed instructions on doing so?

First you put on the safety the safety lever should be horizontal when its in the "ON" position then behind the trigger guard there is a little button you have to push it forward to release the trigger housing/magazine then the barreled reciever will come out of the stock. I use a phillips screwdriver to push it forward.

To reassemble it you put it together then rap the trigger guard when its close to the reciever and it pops back together again.

The wood to metal fit on my yugo was VERY tight. I had to tap the action loose from the wood with a brass drift. Most of the other SKSs come apart easily

That Web Site was most helpful, I now have the barrel soaking and will start cleaning parts on Tuesday.
