After Mkt Stock for M-98 Mauser?
« on: January 20, 2003, 09:50:42 AM »
Can any body recommend a good aftermarket stock for a military M-98 Mauser?

I like the looks of the Boyd JRS Classic laminated stock. I generally prefer wood/laminated to synthetic.  Have seen the Fagen Warsaw Sporter but don't care much for it.

Advocate:  I would go with the Boyd's stock.  I got one for a large ring mauser for $70.  It is a nice piece of wood and still awaits the finishing touches.  As soon as I get another large ring mauser to sporterize it will get that stock.  Mikey here.

Boyds is a good stock for laminates, I've got one wearing a laminated stock right now. It took a little more work to set up than what I was ecpecting but it does a good job none the less. I also have a .270 sitting in a Bell  and Carlson synthetic. That was a complete drop in and tighten. I never had to do anything special to get good accuracy. For a nice piece of wood I would contact Richards Micro Fit Stocks of Escondido, California. They turned me out a nice one for my P-17 project at a reasonable cost. Good Luck!!
