Maine Bear Hunt

I'm planning a Bear hunt to Maine for the Fall of 2006.  I've been looking for a reputable guide service, does anyone have any recommendations, or anyone have any horror storys about which ones to stay away from?

Try Carrie Outfitters in Rangely Lakes.  I've been to Fish River twice and am now hooked on Dave Carrie.  His stands, both tree stands and ground blinds, are concealed so that the bear won't spot you until you're ready to shoot.  His lodge is A-1 as are the meals.  You get your main meal during the afternoon so that you're not starving when you are waiting to be picked up which may be 9 o'clock or better depending on how many bears he needs to retrieve.  And it's not as long a drive to his place.  And he's cheaper too.

Well, first time on these boards...I'm 14, so you don't have to take this advice but I have grown up hunting bear with hounds, and my dad guides so here it goes:

If your looking for a good place to hunt in Maine, you really want to hutn the North, in a nice secluded area, for a trophy bear, however you most likely already know a trophy can pop out any moment...

I recommend checking around the Portage area, and as Graybeard has said possibly give Fish River Lodge a try...That's a nice area in land that sees a lot of summer tourism and fall hunting...But it is prime bear/moose/dear/grouse country...

Try New Brunswick......great hunts are offered with reasonable prices and not the much further to go for a quality hunt
