For the trouble of installing and headspacing a new barrel I would seriously consider a premium barrel. I knew a fellow that allowed the bore of his 700 ADL FS to rust inside and the rifle went from .75 MOA to 2.5 MOA in a a couple of months. Even after lapping the bore it never shot better than 1.75 MOA again.
While at a custom gunsmith's shop he noticed a brand new 30-06 Remington barrel in the discard bin.
After some discussion he finally got the gunsmith to install and headspace the barrel on his action with no warranty on accuracy. With the new barrel the rifle started shooting about 1.5 MOA with selected handloads. He hunted with it for one season and took the rifle to Henry Ball for a McGowen Super Match Grade chrome moly barrel in .270. That same rifle now shoots sub MOA groups with almost any load you stuff in it. Its accuracy is almost scary.
The proof may be in the pudding but the accuracy is in the barrel.
