2000 Nissan frontier troubles
« on: February 21, 2005, 02:11:31 PM »
I have a 2000 Nissan frontier with factory anti theft system.
A few weeks ago I noticed the horn sounding week when I lock the doors with the anti theft system. then I tried to use the horn  and it sounded the same.  I took the wire off the horn and touched a hot wire to the stud and the horn was normal.

Anyone have an idea why it would sound week?

I am thinking it may be the horn relay is starting to go bad but I am unable to find it. the wire from the horn goes into a wire loom and then it goes into and under a fuse box. I have yet to be able to find a wiring diagram for the horn.
can anyone help with my problem?

I also just paid something like $400 to have the drivers side window motor and some other unit replaced. the window would go down but not come back up. it took the place 2 days to replace the window motor then about 10 days latter I pushed the auto down  button and the window would not come back up. I could see my headlights go dim then get bright like the motor was fighting it's self. then it took 3 days to fix the relay thing that stops the window.

this normal? motor was $200 labor was $113 and the other unit ( forget it's name) I was told it was a dealer only part and 5 days total

rickyp,
The kind of problem you had with your windows is exactly why my next truck is going to have manual windows.  My old GMC has manual windows and they always go up and down.

The problem is that I want a new Toyota Tacoma and it is very hard to find one that isn't equipped with power windows.  Apparently, Toyota doesn't build trucks to order--at least that is what the dealers tell me.  They say I have to wait until Toyota decides to run off a bunch that have the options I want.  You would think that would be easy, because the only option I want is air conditioning.

I like the power windows because I have a 4 door truck. during the fall and spring i will open the 2 rear Windows this keeps the wind from blowing right on me it would be hard to do this with a manual window.

I am like you I do not want a truck with all the fancy stuff if i want that I would buy a car.
I want a 250 or 2500 with  4x4, diesel, vinyl seats and floors, a/c sliding rear window, and 4 doors is a must.

I would be happy with diamond plate floors  or the linex spray coating

I am a firefighter, hunter and dad of a 5 year old so my truck gets real dirty real fast. a "work truck" would serve my needs the best but they are hard to find around me. it seams everyone want cloth or leather seats carpet floors and all the bells and whistles you can get.
