The 24F was introduced after 1989, Savage probably started production around 1990-1991, after Savage emerged from insolvency, and pending bankruptcy. When the 24F was introduced, wood stocks went the way of the passenger pigeon, and all stocks and forends were synthetic. The gun should also have a crossbolt safety, unless it was a VERY early model. The gun's chokes are the same as any other Savage shotgun, the chokes tubes are the same ones Mossberg and US Repeating arms uses, you can find them here:
http://www.colonialarms.com/Or go to :
http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/ and fill out the form for a catalog, Midsouth has hastings choketubes that will fit the gun.
Since your Serial number begins with a 'G' it is above serial number 'F498821', which means it was produced 1995 or later, and is under warranty from Savage and parts can be obtained, LUCKY you(read the warranty info, and you can see how the rest of us with older guns are outta luck):
http://www.savagearms.com/warranty.htm You could probably peruse their site and be able to download an owners manual for it.
Incidentally, that fiber optic front sight, because the gun was manufactured sometime after 1995, is probably original equipment, but I am not sure. Hope this helps you.
Sincerely,
Garry
