Long range lever guns
« on: February 10, 2003, 08:55:40 AM »
I'm looking to get involved with CAS, but I'm not ready to jump in completely (just yet).  I would like to buy a lever action rifle that I could use at my current silhouette matches and then turn around and go shoot it at some CAS event.  My question is...how many events have these "side shoots" like long range rifle?  I would really like to just go out for this event (or 2 with a pistol cartridge and big bore).

As for my choice of gun (at this point anyway) would be a Marlin 336 Cowboy in .38-55.  Whatcha'll think of this setup?

Good choice from what I hear. Go for a single shot later and you'll have 2 events to shoot.

You will not go wrong with a Marlin in 38/55. Some have a small chamber as mine does, but I shoot a 379 bullet and it does fine.
Good luck
