Please help me complete the following .357 mag load...........

Starline brass

Winchester small pistol magnum primer

158 gr Hornady XTP JHP bullet

How many grains of Win 296 powder???

any help you provide will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks alot, HH for the response!! That was quick and tells me more than I ever wanted to know about the 357 mag caliber!! Hope I can return the favor someday. I'm gone to the bench.

For what it's worth, out of my 4" Ruger Security Six, 16.0gr of 296 with 158gr XTPs & Win WSPM primers cuts nice tight groups for me. And it's quite powerful too. :grin:

I disassembled five factory loads from Winchester. They all were loaded with the 158gr JSP. All of them had 16.0gr of a spherical powder. Since I'm pretty sure they would use their own powder, I guess that would be W296.
