Well my Swede does not have that and to be honest I guess I have never seen it on any other Swedes either. Not saying that it could not have it but I wonder if it is not a 93 or 95 Mauser? My Model 93 Spanish reciever has that gas vent hole.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

'93 mauser from Oliveti, look at the bolt face, should be squared at the bottom to act as guide comming through bolt races in reciever. 7X57?
The enlarged gas escape looks like two holes drilled connecting to each other. This was done at the arsenal. If over all condition of the gun appears ok, I would'nt junk it. I've shot a couple of deer with '93's, if the cock on closing doesn't bother you, they usually shoot fine.

Well as stated not really the spanish made mausers are not as desirable to some as the German made or Swedish ones but they are not all that bad. I have a 93 mauser I made a sporter out of and I like it. DO you have the complete reciever with bolt floorplate ect or just the stripped reciever? If it is the spanish 93 it will have the flat bottomed bolt as stated. Other wise it could be a Model 95 which did not have the flat bottomed bolt. If you do not have a bolt they run around 35 bucks I bought mine from Springfield Sporters a few years ago. They were out of business because they lost their lease but are now back in business. That is where I bought my barrel also as the barrel I had was shot. The barrel I bought was used but the rifleing was in good shape. If you just have the stripped reciever it would probably be cheaper to buy a whole gun than to start to look for parts. Jim

I was given the stripped receiver, but I have some 95 bolts, and other parts, also a really nice swede bolt with handel that has been replaced with one to clear a scope.I have a 95 chili action that I am going to put a 7mm barrel on.its got some pitting,I am going to bead blast and fill in the pits with j.b.weld,then use a bake on finish.  ed smith
