At the range today I fired two separate rounds thru my 3 3/4", 45 Colt Vaquero.  The first was 14.5 gr. of 2400 (under a 240 gr. LSWC) and at first it looked like it was going to be the cat's meow, but by the time the box was empty the groups were all over the place.  The next box was 15.5 gr. of the same dust and at 25 yards I kept eleven out of twelve inside a 5 1/2" bullseye (shooting Weaver stance). I'll experiment with a warmer load and see if the groups shrink more, but right now I'm feeling pretty good about that gun/load combination.

Pretty good shootin. I guess it's one of the big Vaqueros? The one I just traded away shot pretty good but the very first one I bought shot way left. You might have the throats reamed and tighten that group up even more. They're notorious for being undersized.

I've already had that done.  Right now I'm pretty happy with the gun except that I have a FAT middle finger on my right hand and the trigger guard keeps whacking it good with each shot.  I put a bit of moleskin on that finger last trip to the range and that helped a bit.  I just think its a neat gun and fun to shoot.  I'll bet if I had one and could go back to the OK Corral with Wyatt and them boys.................!

Dusty I've seen several 45 Colts that really liked a 250/260 gr. bullet with 16 grs. of 2400.
