:cb2: They are terrific, especially if you find one of the stainless steel models. They have been out of production for years, but if you can find one, grab it. I think a lot of folks didn't like the way it looked, with the underlug on top of the barrel (would that make it an overlug?). If you get to shoot one, you'll love it. You can still get magazines for it, too. It uses the same one as their high $ target model.

They made a light alloy model that had some kind of black coating on it that would flake off if it touched anything. (Avoid that one!)

As I just mentioned in another thread, mine shoots anything you put in it except Remington. It gets all gunked up with those.

And, it's a whole lot easier to clean than a Ruger Mark II. But then, I can put my car back together easier than a Mk. II. (Now I'll probably catch flack from all those Mk. II owners!)  :)

I know this thread is a little dated, but since I just registered after trolling through this sight for a few days - I thought I'd give my view on it anyway.

I've got the S&W M622 which is the same gun but in stainless "finish" - it's an "in the white" aluminum alloy frame version with target sights & wood grips.  I bought a Model 41 Smith later since I wanted a nicer target guy & they use the same mags just as Old Griz stated.

He also said it would feed anything - and he ain't lying!  One day a bunch of folks in my family were shooting out at my folks farm.  My 20 year old niece wanted to shoot the "light-weight .22 pistol" and she put about 400 rounds through it before it was all over.  She's in college at UNC and had been hearing all about the evils of firearms, but had been shooting with a few times before.

I made the mistake of showing he how to "fan the trigger" with your non-gun-holding hand, dumping 10-12 shots in about a second and a half or less.  I've got 4 mags for that gun and it was all the 3 of us could do to load them while she "slung lead".  I don't think I've ever seen a bigger smile from anybody while shooting a gun.

And by the way, the gun didn't jam a single time.  I don't normally abuse a gun like that, but boy she was having fun - I don't think she got within a foot of any of the 2-liter bottles 10 yards away, but she sure had fun.

The 2206 is the all stainless version of the alloy 422/622. Production was from 1990-1996.
Nice guns.
