Scoping a 24/47 Yugo Mauser?
« on: February 20, 2005, 03:58:27 PM »
I've got a 24/47 Yugo Mauser that I just received from AIM Surplus.  Great rifle, but lousy sights for my tired old eyes.  I'd like to scope it, but will not drill and tap it.  I'm a little unsure if any of the mounts out there, S&K, B-Square, or others? will fit this Mauser.  Anyone tried one and had good luck with it?  I prefer the scout type mount if one is available.

I guess I would go with the S&K I never used one but heard good reports about them. Never used a BSquare but heard they are not that good. I have a chinese knock off of the BSqare on a Mosin Nagant and it loosened up like folks said it would. :(  I had to take the screws out that go through the pin holes and I drilled a next size bigger and put a bolt through with 2 nuts to lock it. I guess you get what you pay for I would see if S&K makes one to fit your gun.  I am hopeing that will take care of the problem on my fix with the Chinese mount if not I will have to look at one of Darrel's or some other sturdier brand of mounts for my Mosin. Darrel's Mounts  may be a other option if he makes them for Mausers I have heard good reports of them also. Jim
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

Not a scope mount, but I have old man eyes also and put Mojo sights on many of the mil-surps that I have.

I don't see any 24/47 mounts at S&K, just the CZ24.  Looking at my 24/47, it doesn't look like the CZ 24 mount would work at all.  It does look like they make a sort of generic Mauser Large Ring set up, though.  See item 2665 at:  http://www.scopemounts.com/index.html

As far as I know Darrell doesn't make mounts for Mausers, yet.  Sure hope he does, and soon.

Looks like you're down to MOJO or B-Square, and I haven't heard a lot of good about B-Square.
