What is the best kit on the market for a begginer to get started on that doesn't cost a lot? I am realy interested in starting to reload( mostly in .44 Mag). And where is the best place to get one? Thanx

Lee gives the the best value for the money and I do not care what the naysayers say about Lee the stuff works! All my dies are Lee along with 2 hand presses I use. Also use the universal expanding die for sooting cast bullets and my lead pot and all my moulds except for one Ideal are Lee. If your local gunshop does not carry reloading supplies go on line and look at Midway, Grafs, for starters they also have free catalogs you can get snail mail or just use their websites. There are several more companies that I am sure others will tell you about. Welcome to the world of reloading it is a great companion hobby to go along with shooting. Jim

Any of the major brands will work. I am cheap so I started with Lee. Good stuff, but others prefer the morre expensive equipment. None of them sell kits t hat are cost prohibitive. Don't forget to buy a die set. I would also suggest some wooden blocks to hold your shells. Most important buy a book. I like the current Lyman Reloading Handbook. Follow the instructions to the letter. Just like a recipe. After a while, when you are reallly familar with the process you will want a faster turret style press and will use your powder dispenser without weighing every charge, but until then a single die press and weighing every chage works just fine.

The RCBS Rock Chucker Master kit has top quality components that will last a lifetime. Do you really want to buy Lee, when so many of us have had really bad experiences with it? You do get what you pay for. Every single piece of Lee equipment I have owned has failed miserably.

Lee equipment got me started into reloading and on a very reasonable budget. It has worked very well for me and I am still using it, so maybe I got more than I paid for.

the ONLY Lee product i will use is the priming tool. if you set their other products side by side with the other guys, an eight year old can see the difference in quality....

I regret having to tell you that the priming tool has apparently gone to pot also. My last one was a piece if junk and and now I use only the RCBS hand priming tool. The design of the RCBS isn't as good ergonomically and is harder to set up, but at least it works, which is more than I can say for my last, and I do mean last, Lee tool.

too each their own but all my Lee products work as intended and are a great value for the money. some folks maybe are just hard on their tools?

imho, i dont think a beginning reloader can go wrong with a lee starter kit. i bought mine, used it and learned the basics. nothing has broken, and everything works just fine. some things needed a little tweaking; but what doesnt. i think for a beginner, the low price and function of the lee products make it a decent deal.
