55 Grain Acclerators for 30 cal
« on: January 05, 2005, 03:35:40 PM »
Does anybody on this forum have any knowledge on where I can attain just the saboted bullet (55 grain SP and plastic sheeth)? All I really want is the bullet but if anyone knows where the whole loaded cartridge for a 30-06 is, I would greatly appretiate it.

I want to load this to speeds beyond 4000fps in a 30-06 for some experimenting on g-hogs. I don't NEED to because I already have several calibers for this but ya know, why not try it? It won't cook the barrel because it is plastic running down the bore and speeds are crazy when loaded with all that powder

Thanks

Hildy

E. Aurthur Brown Company.  But forget about prarie dogs.  They are too small a target for sabot accuracy. You might be able to hit a Moose at 50 yds though with a little practice.  Many of us here have experimented with the sabots and wasted money and time.  What good is 3-4,000 fps if you cannot hit anything?  I am sure you will still get someone that says they are wonderful, but I think you will be better  investing in a varmint gun.  Even a cheap 22 mag would be better than using the sabots.
....make it count

Thanks for the help...

I do though already have several varmint guns from 17 cal up through 25 cal. I just wanted to try them to see if they would be any good. I still probably will, though I won't really expect accuracy like my 17HMR or 223.

More like 2 or more(usually much more) inches @ 100 yards.  You're not going to hit many PD's with that.  Lawdog
