Hey Ho Pards!
I am the PRS in the PRS boolit. Big Deal!? Great Bullet! In the thread above I see a photo displayed of the Lee 452-255-RF and the caption of imagine. If any of you guys have a camera for posting such pics, then I would be happy to supply the PRS bullet samples to you so that you can post a pic of the real Hatfield; perhaps one lubed and one naked. Its an awesome sight! It is different form the "mother" bullet in several ways.
If ya want a posting of my experiences and rammblings that let me to create that bullet; then I can do that here too. Quite frankly, its a whole lot of beginner's luck. For that bullet to have turned out as well as it did and to have such good balance is truly remarkable to me. It has two drawbacks that I can think of right off the bat. 1. It is a bit tedious to place squarely on a cartrige case that is only belled minimally -- this due to its non-beveled square flat base. Such a squared base is necessary in my opinion for optimal BP performance and the design should not be changed. I suggest you find the amount of belling you can just get by with and use your seating die to just close that belling before crimping with the final die. 2. Its lube hungry! If you are paying $3.50 to $4.00 per stick for SPG or other commercial lube, the your cost for lube is gonna be substantial. I have the solution for that; its PRS lube. I can post a windy diatribe about PRS lube too, if'n yall really want. Emmert's Lube or any well thought out home made BPCR lube will work, but I am kinda partial to the PRS for some reason or another. Bear in mind, the lonly lube that helps your shooting is that which is used or consumed in the barrel. Its no good throwing big goobers down range. PRS lube tends to be consumed and the familiar barrel crown star you like to see may not be impressive with it -- the lube was converted to moisture and anti-fouling. rather than wasted downrange as a mess.
Also, I have NO, repeat NO, financial interest in this bullet. It is my gift, however small and humble, to fellow shooters of the Holy Black. I had hoped and hope that Lee markets it directly through its regular distributers so that the price can be more reasonable. They are NUTS if they continure to ignore our needs and desires.
Keep yer powder dry and yer back to the wall.
Regards;
