Forgive me if this has already been discussed. I looked back a few pages and didn't see anything.
Recently a friend bought an H&R Target Model in .35-55. We were discussing tang sights, as he's really hot to get one. I mentioned that I had seen one that someone on this board had done, but it was mounted to the wood because the rifle hasn't got a "tang" to speak of.
Later than night I was looking at Brownell's cowboy catalog and found a flip-up rear sight made by Smith Enterprises. This is listed as fitting on the barrel of the "Wesson & Harrington" buffalo rifles, in the pre-drilled holes. So I did a web search for Wesson & Harrington and found a website where H&R is maketing the Buffalo Classic and Target Models as Wesson & Harrington rifles, rather than H&R.
So my questions are:
1. Are these the same rifles as the H&R guns, only marked with a different name?
2. Has anyone used the Smith sight?
3. Any other suggestions for a tang-type sight on the Target Model that would be somewhat economical?
TIA
Dave
