i'm thinking about a "custom" ultra slugger. it would go somthing like this:
sb-2 frame
heavy 20 ga. barrel, cut down to 20.5"
synthetic stock& forend
bushnell elite 3200 3-9x40 w/ qd rings and a bushnell trophy 1.5-4x32
teflon barrel finish
epoxy spar paint frame

?

Sounds good. Why would you use a SB2 frame?

Do you already have an SB-2 rifle receiver sitting around? Is that why you would use that receiver? Sounds like you have some nice ideas...Get the wheels in motion and post some pics.

He may be speaking about an Ultra Slugger frame which is a SB2 designation. I have read here that although it's designated as an "SB2" frame it may differ from an SB2 rifle reciever....<><.... :grin:

An sb2 shotgun receiver would not work with a 20 ultra barrel. They are designed to work with the 10 ga barrel. It might fit together and lock up but the firing pin would strike off center. It would be fine with a sb2 rifle receiver but if you were not planning on using it with a rifle barrel also there is no reason an sb1 receiver wouldn't work.

sorry it took so long to get back. the frame is a sb-2 .280 frame that i had, but i hunt in a shot gun only zone so.......................... :grin:

So you can order a 20GA Ultra Slugger barrel but not the 12GA. Of the two scopes mentioned I would go with the Trophy 1.75-4x32. You don't need more magnification that 4x at slug gun ranges.
