Which one is a better rifle? Fit, finish, accuracy, feel, everall quality? Looks like NEF has some competition with the new Rossi heavy barrel 223 out. What do you guys think?

I bought my NEF for its accuracy, not looks but the Rossi looks like a copy cat. Is it as accurate as the nef and if so is it more expensive or cheaper? Just curious. Jimmy

For what little difference there is in price between a Handi and the Rossi, I'll take the US made, Green Mountain barreled Handi any day...And FWIW, Rossi doesn't offer any models comparable to the Ultras.

Rossi does not offer laminated stocks, yet. That's the only thing I can see that the Ultra has over the Rossi.

I take that back. The Rossi hammer has a much lower profile, look at how low it sits compared to the scope rail. Probably eliminates the need for a hammer extension?

i have checked out the Rossi rifles and they do nothing for me at all.that picture looks all right but the ones i saw were very poor as far as fit and finish.the blueing didnt look as good as NEFs and you want to talk about pallet wood stocks :shock: Rossi takes the cake in that dept.get a USA built single shot :wink:

What this is here is the H&R/NEF forum. Seems to make sense that we have a preference for those weapons. Perhaps you might mosey over to the Rossi forum and ask over there....might get an answer over there that suits you. Rossi's are junk as far as I'm concerned. When I worked at our local feed/grain/sportin' goods store, folks were always bringing them back irregardless of the model 'cause they broke a lot. Haven't seen much to bolster my confidence since then.

It's a honest question...and well deserving of an answer here...since several of our Handi Brothers have both...why...I don't know...but they do

I have looked at a few Rossi's but have never shot one. There is something clumsey feeling about them, maybe the angle of the stock or something. I have heard they shoot pretty good. Fit and finish seem a bit lower grade than the Handi. However I think I saw a new Rossi in 357 Mag the other day for about $120. Made me stop and think about it a bit. BUT NOT NEAR AS MUCH AS THAT 204 RUGER HANDI DID. There, I feel better now. :eek:

I have both NEF and Rossi guns and I like both. H&R/NEF has the best fit and finish. Both brands give acceptable accuracy. I shoot a lot and can see no difference in reliability (both brands are holding up nicely). When all things are considered I will choose NEF every time, well almost every time. When I walk into a shop with just a few bucks in my pocket a Rossi just might follow me home :wink:
