four for four...

today out at the inlaws,  the pine squrriels were out in force.  all i had with me was the kimber 45 and some cast bullets i loaded up.  at first i didnt go for it,  but after watching them tempt me, i couldnt take it any more.  so i loaded the 45, and out i went.  first one fell after a shot through the front shoulders.  as did the second.  third one did to.  then i saw the last one,  did a little stalk, thought "do i want to chance ruining my streak?"   and then figured i would never know unless i tryed.  seconds later the forth fell to a shot through the front shoulders.  just one of those perfect days.     i  love my kimber.

They are sweet shooters, ain't they? I like to keep mine at hand when I'm out shooting praried dogs for the little varmints that pop up close. Don't think I can do 4 for 4 but sure feels good to connect on the little buggers at all.
Perception is everything. For instance, a crowded elevator smells different to a midget.

 Sure seems like a waste.  Head shoot 'em, clean, fry, make some gravy and hot biscuits.  Better than venison any day............I learned to hunt chasing bushy tails through the swamps.  My grandfather would give me 5 .22 shorts and the old rolling block .22.  If I didn't bring five squirrels home he rode my butt until the next trip. Didn't take long to realize you don't waste a shop.

you do know that pine squirrels are about the same size as a gopher?   i knew a guy who wouldnt kill anything he didnt eat.  one time he shot a pine squirrel.  he was carring it and i asked him what he was going to do with it.  he said 'eat it', to which i said i just had to see.   well, let's just say he didnt make it through the meal.    really all they are good for is getting in your house and chewing wiring, insulation, and doing other unclean rodent things.
btw,  i make mounds of snow out on the lake, then place the squirrels on them.  the eagles usually pick them off within a half and hour.   i do the same thing with one fish everytime i go fishing.  i have one eagle that  recognizes me and will watch.  once i place it, i get about ten steps back and the bird has it already!  it can be tough for them to come by a meal this time of year.   nature wastes nothing.

By "pine squirrel", you mean red squirrel, don't you?  Ya, you don't eat red squirrels...  Now, if you were wasting fox or grey squirrels, that would be a different story!

some call them reds,  but some also refer to fox squirrels as 'reds' so i figured i would be really specific.

 Heck, I don't know what ya are calling a Pine Squirrel.  Down south and even out here in West Tesas we got them red (Fox) and gray (Cat)bushy tails, they all taste good with some rice and gravy.  I guess I lived with them coonies in La too long, if it got eyes and climbs trees it gotta be good to eat............Course I never tryed one of dem flying squirrels, wern't much meat there.

:)  not this time   :)   i never thought about that angle.  it is safe to say i wont spend anymore money on blackhawks, so unless the only one of the three i have left breaks again,  odds are on my side.
