hello;

can someone tell me how to remove the bolt in the rem. 7400 to replace the plastic dust cover?  thanks for any info.

Please see my dust cover reply above. Otherwise, get your hands on a copy of the Gun Digest "Firearms Disassembly Guide" with the Rem 742 or 7400 in it. They have them in our local library, hence you may be able to get such in yours.

Hello rp85,
The dust cover can be installed without disassembly of the rifle. You must make sure that all the pieces of the old one are out first.
It would be best to just take it to your local 'smith. I would expect the cost to be under $20.00.
