Taurus 24/7 45 compact/mid-size?
« on: February 10, 2005, 09:56:36 PM »

It looks like an excellent pistol.  But it seems it would make a perfect carry piece if it was a little smaller in a couple dimensions.  I'm surprised they aren't offering such a version already.

My idea would have the grip and mag shortened to hold a flush 10rd mag.  The barrel and slide would be shortened to a barrel length of say 3.5"-3.75".  That would be my ideal size, though I'm sure a smaller version would sell as well.

What say ye?  And anyone think such a thing could be done as a custom job?

Take a look at the PT145 Millenium Pro. Sounds like what you are looking for.

I just did today.  I was familiar with it already, but had the incorrect assumption that the Taurus 24-7 was based on the SW 99.  I got to inspect both in depth and am optimistic about both.  The earlier generations of the 145 had reports of problems, but the one I inspected today seemed to be built like the best, with the same internal metal frame that I value in my beloved Steyr M40.
