I'm Now A Disk Jockey! Well, kinda......
« on: February 08, 2005, 06:46:34 AM »
I'm having more fun than a 3 year old should be allowed to have on the Internet!

....because I just set up my own Internet Radio Station.

If you like mellow, Jazzy music with few lyrics, I'd like to invite you to tune into "Just Jazz".  The broadcast quality is very high (digital) and in stereo. I've been collecting music for many many years, and now I can share it! From all reports so far, it sounds great.  I decided against using "Real Audio" or "Microsoft" because of all the advertising junk that one gets along with those.  I found something far, far better.

Anyway, I'm playing all genres of Jazz, from classic to contemporary - blues, fusion, bebop, swing, funk, etc.  24 HOURS A DAY.  Once the new station has settled in a little, and I've done all those little jobs, then I'll take any special requests.

You will need to download a 100% FREEWARE program to listen.

Here's a link to it:

Sounds somewhat like the "global village" propaganda spewed by Billary Klinton, say Dali Llama. :(  :(  :(

Dali:

No it doesn't...sounds like he feels we all are " Brothers " in one way or another...and as far as being anything like Billary...I don't really think that's the case at all...far from it...

BamBams, will your station work with a dialup connection?

And, if so, when you get around to it, would you consider scheduling country blues and pre-WWII jazz blocks?
It is the duty of the good citizen to love his country and hate his gubmint.

Leftoverdj:

I took it offline for now because I wasn't getting more than one listener, and decided it wasn't worth the trouble.  I did make a great effort though.

Yes, modem users can listen to it.  If you want to try it out, let me know, and I'll fire it up for you so you can test the "reception".  *smiles*

That was quick.  Just out of curiosity why did you have it on-line for only one day?

Well, it's kind of pointless if nobody is going to listen to it right?

I did it myself last week.  I just had to download all the software, and the rest was pretty easy.  To broadcast, one must have a broadband connection, but I believe anyone can receive.  On the listener's end, all you have to do is install the software, look for my station on the white screen that comes up with the list, and double click it.

There is someone in London listening right now......wooo hooo!

Okay, I'll try and make it easier for ya.  If you go to the following website, you will see my station listed as below.  If you click on the tiny headphones on the right, it will download the software for you preconfigured to listen to my station.

We're trying to do all our commercials in ebonics.  It's really funny.  I expect it's even more funny for the european audience. *smiles*

Dali,

This being the Internet, and me having been a Network Analyst, it's quite simple to find out where anyone be. *smiles*

whodowl,

I not really being hosted persay.  The "streamer" servers simply assign and relay the audio stream.  They are more like a relay station than anything else. The music is right here at my desk, any website would also have to be on a server of my choosing, etc etc.

Cookies are not used.  You don't have to be on a website to hear this music, you just have to have software that will pick up the audio stream - which is a high quality stereo "oob" stream.  Similar to Real Audio, etc.

No offense was taken.  I just wanted you guys to know that cookies are not used for this.  The only reason I've been looking at who is listening is to try and get an idea where the station is doing best geographically.

I'm sorry it isn't working well for you.  I've got a guy who lives about 50 miles from here, and he says it sounds great.  He let me listen over the telephone.  I guess it just depends on what network a person is using.

If anyone else has problems, I'd certainly like to hear about them.

Yes, Dali, if I choose to do so, I can "pinpoint" where somebody "be" on the Internet, but this has nothing to do with the music software.  It's an easy matter to trace down anyone on the Internet.  If you wish, I can pinpoint you - just let me know.
