NEF Manlicher Stocks?
« on: February 11, 2005, 11:38:28 AM »
I have always loved the looks of the mannlicher stocks on the ruger no.1 rifles and wanted to have this done to the nef handi rifle. A friend of mine told me that he read somewhere that NEF had them many years ago but didnt put many of them out. Before i make a call to NEF i was wondering if anyone can verify this? And if so does anyone know if someone sells them.

I have a friend who has one (I traded it to him) he now wants to sell.  It's a .45/70 and he wants $250 for it.  Will have to shipped to an FFL or picked up in person in Western KY.

Gun is in great shape, older NK serial number.  A few minor dings but overall in better than average, used gun condition.  Iron sights, no scope rail, sling studs.

I cann't see how one could be that hard to make. I saw, router, and a belt sander plus a dozen or so chunks of wood turned to firewood until you get one right.

I also like the manlicher stock!  I would have ordered one if they had been in the catalog or I'd known they had them in stock.

The question I have is this:  With the need for most barrels to be free-floated using the o-ring, how would a manlicher stock effect the rifle?  Does the barrel band put pressure on the barrel causing problems?  How do you free-float the barrel with the manlicher stock?

I called him tonite and he may have it sold already.  I'd have kept the stock, but it didn't fit the gun I traded for very well.

I have a 223 that I use the stock on a while back...I sighting in another scope and was shooting winny white box 45 grainers and put 3 shots in one hole at 100 yards with it on there...I couldn't believe it. I usually shoot this barrel on a nother receiver but I just may shoot it that way from now on...
