Removing BoMar Sights
« on: February 11, 2005, 05:59:39 PM »
I just got a Witchita Mk 40 bolt action pistol and my middle aged eyesight must defer to a scope. How is the Bomar rear sight and Large hooded blade -on- ramp IMSA front sight removed? The rear sight mounts over the receiver ring that alternately takes a 2 screw Rem 700 size weaver scope base.
Rear: I presume the elevation screw is unscrewed, the pin punched out to release the notch assembly, and the base unscrewed???
On the front, I only see a horizontal hex screw centrally located in the base of the hood- ramp. Will this release the hood so it slides off the ramp to then expose the ramps screws?
Will taking the hood off & leaving the ramp on the bbl be enough to use the scope without interference?

Thanks!

Steve

Every BoMar sight that I have had was mounted with 2 screws. A visible front screw, and another screw under the blade assy. behind the elevation screw. Remove the elevation screw and flip the blade up - this will expose the other screw.
