If I don't manage to get my BC ready, could a guy shoot the regular Handi rifle 45-70? I am hoping to have the BC ready but I will have to get the sight and find a gunsmith to drill and tap in on for me. That, or go to the tang sight and have him install that one. Gunsmiths here are slow as heck. It will be two weeks before I pick up the BC. Weather won't be fit to shoot before April over here in the ice zone.

Several years ago while competing at the Quigley I happen upon a shooter using a 22" Handi-Rifle in 45-70 sighted up with a smith buckhorn ladder sight.

We struck up a conversation about my Buffalo Classic and his Handi-Rifle and both of us knew that we were shooting against more exspensive rifles with sights costing far greater than our H&R's

But he as well as I were there for the fun of it, and for our chance at our door prize ticket being drawn. Even though our tickets were not drawn, it was still fun. Had they of been drawn, one of us would have walked away with a brand new Shiloh Sharps with an even bigger smile.
