Marlin 1895 in 480 Ruger/.475 linbaugh
« on: February 05, 2005, 03:42:08 AM »
In the 2004 the 1895 was listed in 480/.475 and was to be available mid 2004..the 2005 catalog makes no mention of the chambering.  Anyone have any ideas as to why not?  I thought it was be a cool chambering in a lever gun..

Hadn't noticed the marlin wasn't listed.  Although not chambered for the .475, the Puma M92 from legacy Sports is available in .480 in a few different configurations.

spinafish –

DonÂ’t hold your breath waiting for the .480/.475 from Marlin – pressures for the Linebaugh are far higher than anything Marlin has acknowledged are safe in Marlin leverguns and that presents them with a real problem – if they come out with such a rifle people will assume Linebaugh pressures are OK in other Marlin leverguns.  The fact that such assumptions may be incorrect will not prevent those other Marlin guns from disassembling themselves in an explosive manner and certainly wonÂ’t provide a shield against the subsequent lawsuits.
