It came back.
« on: February 12, 2005, 06:08:41 PM »
Well... my SB2 recivier came back home yesterday WITHOUT a barrel on it.   Had to have back for the PD hunt in June.
One good thing is that H&R did not charge me any shipping to return it.
Also they sent me a new hammer spur extenison, at no charge.
Ya know... I'm not angry with CS, I just don't think the management keeps them too informed. I think that they (CS) do the best they can with what they have to go on. I, myself, am well pleased with those folks at Customer Service. It seems a lot better than a couple of years ago.
Plus after spending $1600.00 on a Freedom Arms handgun, I can wait on a 7.62X39 barrel.

I just don't know what to think. How is this guy getting his info??????
I guess all we can do is wait till it's written in stone.  :?
I sure would have liked to have that 7.62X39 barrel.
Thanks.

I'd email em or call em and ask em what's up!!! He said he talked to em...

Quote
Thus my call to the Oracle, (H&R Customer Service). I was advised of the following, some of which I had not seen herein:

- Vent Rib/choke tube barrels a la Topper Deluxe should be available in the barrel program late spring (May-June)
- 500 S&W barrels are likewise due then.
- 22/250 and 7.62x39 barrels are shipping.

Tim;

Like I said on an eariler post.
THEY called me at work! And said that the 7.62X39 barrels would not be avaliable till July. What would I like to do. I asked them I could wait till May if possable in order to get the barrel. THEY said they could not promise it. So I told them to send the recivier back.
Heck... I need another SB2 recieiver anyway.
I'll just wait till the cartridge comes out in a rifle, then get the whole deal.

There have been a couple posts lately that indicate that there were a lot of misinformed people working at H&R, doesn't surprise me that they're having a little left hand-right hand communication problem.... :? Too bad that we get stuck in the middle, though....

Yup...Tim, You are right.

Don't know which end is up. So all we can do is wait. But I really wanted that Russian round. It will be a good one to shoot while one of the other rifles are cooling down. You know, shoot at clay piegons sitting on the bank or shooting at empty water bottles. And at 22 rimfire prices.
I guess the old saying holds true... Good things come to those who wait.  :?

Has anyone heard if the 7.62X39 will be able to shoot milsurp ammo?  If it's like the .223, it might not be as attractive.  I know I have a .50 cal ammo can of Chinese NATO .223 (supposedly) junk that won't work in my Handi.

Are you saying that you can not shoot Mil Surp ammo in your .223 Handi Rifle?

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to add any confusion.  When I talked to the guy at Customer Service he used the 22-250 and 7.62x39 as examples of why there was a delay in the Topper barrels and 500 S&W.  His comment was something to the effect "we always have to wait on complete gun orders and only get barrels when those orders are full.  We had been waiting on 22-250 and 7.62x39 and just started shipping those."  I also saw a post regarding the availability of 12ga. Topper barrels that conflicted.  The rep generalized that all the Topper barrels were May/June availability and added the 500 S&W without my prompting.  I wish I recalled the guy's name.  He seemed pretty talkative, adding a lot that I didn't ask ("Yeah, the Marlin guys are here today...")

I have held up sending mine in to see if Toppers are available in a couple of months even thought I'm dying to get a Huntsman barrel and get back into blackpowder.  Having your Handi out of action twice for 4-6 weeks seems too much to stand.

Seems that they could save themselves the ink and paper for that last paragraph if they'd just order their barrel blanks in a 1-9" configuration.  :-D

C.S. is pretty good at times and I have not been known to knock them but there are inconsistant answers coming from them, and more than occasionally. In the past I have advocated calling and then calling again if you did not get the answer you wanted and speaking to a different person. Well, a few days ago I called and inquired about a long Mannlicher forearm and was advised they had none left. Yesterday tanoose called and was told they had about 60 in left in stock, the stock # was H0330 and the cost was $30.00 plus shipping!!! You never know what they will say or answer, even to the same question!!!....<><....
