22 Hornet
« on: February 15, 2005, 01:23:09 PM »
I just used buy it now on SB-2 22 hornet, stainless, synthectic.  As I approach 71 I just want to have fun, I would welcome any input on loads, bullets, ect . I do reload for 222 and 223, I have cci 400 and ww small rifle primers on hand, most of a pound of Lilgun and 2# of unique, small supply of 40&45 gr bullets.  I have had 2 Ruger 77-22H , liked the gun but never was satisfied with accuracy. Rifle coming has 6x weaver but I have 3-9 leopold and 4-16 Tasco so planning on using whatever seems best on Handi-rifle.  please feel free to email me with any Hornet help.

All Hornet loaders should try the 40 gr Hornady V-Max.

Anyohe who loads for the smaller CF 22's owes it to themselves to try thr Hornady 45gn HP BEE bullet.  It's a flyin' ashtray that does a number on varmints.  I really like them in my 218's.

Another BEE style bullet that is great if you use your Hornet or BEE for small game is the Speer 46 gr Flat Point.  I load it with 4.2 grs of Unique as my squirrel load.  Looks like a tiny 30/30 170 gr FP and does a good job on killing those tree rats quickly with no meat damage to speak of.  Accurate in my rifle, too.
