I currently have a Glock 27 that I load with 155 grain Hydra-shoks and I got a chance to fire a Ruger Sp101 with 3"barrel 125 grian 357's.
I was just wondering (not counting the more ammo the glock can hold) is there any advantage firepower wise between the two?

IMHO - The only autoloader (current production) that can compare to the .357Magnum in firepower is the 10MM. And I'm also a .45ACP (autoloader) fan. So don't be too hard on me autoloader fans.

Rscout: if you want a 357 caliber autoloader and intend to limit your bullet selection to the lighterweight 125 grain bullets, then get yourself a 357 Sig barrel for your 40 Glock and you will have exactly the same ballistics from the 357 Sig as you would from the 3.5" Ruger 357.
If you intend to shoot or load heavier bullets in the 357 caliber then go with the Ruger.
If you prefer the heavier (larger) caliber, then get a 10mm in the Glock and see if you can get a 357 Sig barrel conversion. That way you would have the benefit of both the heavier 10mm and the 357 Sig. Just my opinion. Mikey.

I just picked up a used sp101, and so far, it's the best carry gun I've ever owned. It's well balanced, a pleasure to fire at the range, and very accurate.

One of favorite carry guns is my slightly customized 3" SP101. Mine gives my Springfield Custom Shop 1911 a run for the accuracy award at 25 yards...
Here's my IWB holster I sewed a pouch for a speed strip reloader onto:
I added the next lower than factory spring kit from Wilson , an Ashley tritium front sight and the Compact grips, then had it matte hard chromed.

Carry the one you like best.
I carry a Glock 27 off duty and have 100% faith in it.

I think I am going to go with the SP101 w/ 3" barrel.
I figure it will be better powerwise and I have found on Cylinder and Slides website that they will put S&W J-frame adjustable sights on it for $200.
It would also allow me to teach my girlfriend and Msorenso to shoot and she could carry it when we go backwoods camping.

I have the 2 1/4 101 - and like it. I took some fine emery paper to the sharper edges and corners on the right hand side of the gun to soften them. Added Crimson Trace grips - now can shoot it very accurately at 5 to 15 yards. I kinda wish I'd gotten the 3 inch version but I like mine a lot. I really like its ruggedness and stainless corrosion resistance and it fits my hand better than any other gun I've tried.
I've wanted the tritium front sight but haven't got there yet.
