Accurizing the NEF

I am new to the forums and also new to NEFs.  I bought a .243 bull barrel for my son and so far its a good rifle.  Depending on the hand loads I use in it I can normally get just under 1 in. groups fairly easily.  I am also considering getting a .223 sometime in the near future.

I am wondering what all you folks have done to accurize your NEFs?  Mainly how do you go about freefloating the barrel?  I have done a search and saw a few mentions of it but noone really got to in depth about it.  It will be the first rifle I have ever done anything like this too so I need all the help I can get.  I figure I might as well practice playing with the accuracy on a cheaper rifle instead of my Rem 700 especially when it shoots under half an inch fairlt easily and would prob shoot much better than that in someone elses hands.
