I live in Miami and fish piers and bridges whenever I can. I fish Jupiter and Ft. Lauderdale as well.
Anyhow, they say that fishing is all local, meaning that each region uses different techniques to catch different types of fish.
I was at the Jupiter (Juno Beach) pier the last couple of weekends and noticed that A LOT of people were catching Spanish mackerel and Bluefish on artificials. They were tubular looking with red/orange fronts with the rest of the body white. To make a long story short, they are called Gotcha and they were really well. When I went to the pier tackle store, the guy told me that he sold over 100 the day before and thus ran out. I went to Wal Mart later on and found out that they were sold out too. Wow, that's a pretty popular lure. I happened to be at Bass Pro Outdoors this past weekend during their Spring Fishing Classic and saw that they had a whole bunch of these lures - like 15 or so, so I bought about 10 and left the rest for some other people to buy so that they can catch some fish too.
So do any of you guys use this lure as well? If not, then what do you use to catch mackerels and Bluefish?
