Lefties and the Browning BAR
« on: February 10, 2005, 08:49:53 AM »
I'm left handed! I was thinking about picking up a Browning Bar probably in the .270 Win or lighter caliber. My question is does anyone know or have any experience shooting a BAR left handed? Is there a problem with the ejecting shell hitting you in the cheek? These are the thoughts I ponder as consider buying one. Thanks

I'm not a leftie, nor have I shot my BAR left handed; however, I can say that my BAR ejects the brass pretty much at a 90 degree angle to the rifle.  Even if it ejected at a 45 degree angle toward the rear of the rifle, I don't see how it could possibly hit you in the cheek.

.............had to go shoulder mine left handed just to see.  With the rifle shouldered and head in position to look through the scope, the ejection port is at least a foot from your face.  I don't think there is any possible way for you to get hit with ejected brass.
