Shells NOT to shoot
« on: February 17, 2005, 10:29:01 AM »
 I've found some shells NOT to shoot in a short, light double!!!  The only shells I had in the truck while I was headed home with my new Bounty Hunter were some "Shoot-what-ya-brung-money's-on-the-line-40yd-trap-loads"!!!!!!  Glad 10 of them things was all that were in the truck!!!!  It sure isn't a gun for an ounce and a half of butt haulin' 6's!!

Howdy Pard,
The Bounty Hunter isn't all that mild on any kind of factory load. Even a day of shooting AAs can tire you out. I filled my BH stock mount hole full with a slight amount left for movement with #8 shot. Stuck a piece of duct tape over the hole and reinstalled the plastic butt plate. I then installed one of those Cabela leather lace up recoil pads and it made a lot of difference. I have it in mind that the whole stock could be improved. Adding the recoil pad helped a lot for me as far as reach went, but the BH for me tends to shoot high. I have to concentrate on keeping down and sometimes just shoot 6 o'clock. I have the choked internal hammers model and I traded off the full choke to a pard for his mod choke and that gives me both barrels same pattern. The pattern crosses at about 20 feet. If it wasn't for the chrome lined barrels, I would probably try to open the forcing cone, but the recoil isn't bad now. Especially with the true powder.
I have shot mine for 5 years and shot it a lot. They really hold up. :-) Good luck with yours. Great price too.
yer pard,

reminds me of the time I thought it would be fun to shoot SLUGS out of a rossi coach gun.
I still have 4 rounds left of the 6 round box.

And then there was the time I thought shooting 00 buck would be fun.. :?
still have those to shoot up too.

Just got a Baikal shotgun.  Much like the Stoeger Coach Gun.
Ran some old pheasant loads through it. Not fun.
I tried some reduced recoil 00 buckshot loads.  A lot less not fun.
Then  I tried some Winchester AA 12 gauge Feather Light #8s.
Winchester product code is AA12FL8.
They're loaded with 26 grams (if my math is correct, 0.9125 ounces).
Much more pleasant.
Ordered a small case (10 boxes)  from Ultimate Outdoors.
www.ultout.com
63.20 plus 9.95 UPS.
Next time I'll order 2 small cases, shipping will be 11.95.
