Anyone try paper patch bullets in their BC?

Have been lurking here for a while and have to compliment everyone for their helpfulness. It's a great site. Lots of info for those asking. I am considering taking the plunge and getting a Buf. Classic 45-70, am wondering if anyone has tried shooting paper patched in their's, and how accurate was it?  :-)

I shot PPs out of my Handi Rifle 45/70. Buy a box of Speer .250 gr SWC Swaged pistol bullets [.451-.452"]and patch them to .460 or so. Easy PP'ing! Shot an 8 pt buck and got super penetration AND expansion [of course] and got very good accuracy. If your BR has smooth rifling,,should shoot great.

I use On Target Swaging's (http://ontargetswaging.com/) 400 gn PP in 30:1  sized .449 wrapped with 9lb 100% cotton paper and Rooster Jacket lube.
 Works like a champ. I'm just starting to try the pure lead bullets from the same source.

Thanks guys for the input, have been wanting to get into BPCR for quite a while, and seems that a lot of guys are pretty happy with their Buffalo Classic. The other thing that appeals to me it sounds fairly easy to rechamber up to what I really want --- a 45-90. Mostly want to use for hunting. And by getting into this in stages, it's a heck of a lot cheaper than go'in the Sharps rifle route.  Once again I compliment this site for lots of helpfull info -- hope some day I'll repay by posting my own tips and tricks! my first thoughts would be to leave it as a 45/70 unless you are a black powder burner exclusively. Lots of room in the 45/70 case, especially in the weak Handi Rifle action. Just a thought, you may have thought it thru better.

It's a stronger action than the trapdoor rifles shooting 45-120 and 50-140. As long as one stays out of the 45-70 ruger loads for a constant diet the Handi action works like a champ.  That said, if you are going to 45-90 just for the extra velocity and intend on using smokeless powder, then there's no point in reaming up at all.  45-90 velocities can be acheived with smokeless in 45-70 cases without much problem from what I've read.  The 90 and above in my opinion are mostly suited to shooting black.  That's what I plan on doing if my barrel ever gets back from the smith.
