Well, I"ve actually been thinking about getting an EMF '92 in 44 WCF, since they retail new on Gun Broker for as little as $319. Then, ship it off and have the barrel switched to 38 WCF. It would come out cheaper than buying a '73 reproduction in 38 WCF, and it would probably cost less than any original rifle that's in good enough condition to be a good shooter. Plus, I wouldn't feel any need to baby an EMF, where I might be a little scared to get an original dinged up. They're hard to come by in 38 WCF, at least around here.
Taylors is importing Armi Sport '92s in 38 WCF, but they're only available as take downs, as far as I know. MSRP is listed as $1,100. That means they come across the counter for about the same price as the '73s on the market. The take down feature doesn't interest me, so I'm not about to pay extra for it.
Shorty, if you can find a good, shootable model 92 in 38 WCF for less than $700, I'd sure like to hear about it, original, repro, or otherwise.
