WTS: B-Square Mount for long Swedish Mauser
« on: February 24, 2005, 10:09:23 AM »
I bought this mount and didn't like it.  This is a scout type mount.  It uses the rear sights, screwing a Weaver-type base to the ladder, and adding 2 tensioning screws.  Includes rings, allen wrench.  Used for 60 days.  Paid $55.

Why don't you like it? Is the mount NG or just that you don't like the scope out there?

Not to rain on anyones parade or discourage a sale but if the Bsquare are anything like the chinese copy  of a Bsquare I bought they tend to shake loose. Both are made out of aluminum and tend to stretch. I redid mine with a bolt through the pin holes hoping that will fix it. I do not think the tension screws are the problem but the screws that go through the pin holes for the rear sight. THere are better ones out there and I may have to go to one of them my self. Jim
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

I don't mind the scout rig generally, but it looked wrong on the gun, both from the front and rear.  The mount felt like an AR ro me, and I don't like a high scope.  Groups were okay.  I bought a MOJO set to replace the B-Square.  I'm going to keep the MOJO sights.  Groups are very good, and target acquisition is remarkable.  Hope my wife doesn't realize I "invested"  over $200 (counting the scope) on a rifle I bought for $60.

I made my scout set up for my swede and it is a permenent situation but the scope sets low so low in fact I had to order higher rings to clear the rear handguard ring. I Like the scout set up and the mount I was talking about was for a Mosin. I like Peep sights also and I made a Mojo type for my 91 Mosin and it works well. Jim

A rear sight replacement that is a ghost ring like a peep sight only you really cannot call it a peep sight as it sets up where the rear sight goes. Still it is a improvement over the open sight it replaces. I made  one for my 91 by taking a peep sight ring off a junk peep sight and fixing it on my sight ladder where the rear blade went on my 91. Only thing is it is fixed so windage has to be done with the front sight. (The mojo sights are windage and elevation).  Since it is threaded I can put smaller apuratures in just like a peep sight. Works well though I prefer the scout scope setups. Still it is a vast improvment over open sights for aging eyes.

In case you are still interested at all in a "Scout" mount for the Swede, these guys have mounts specifically for:
the Gustafs http://www.scopemounts.com/index.html
and the Husqvarna http://www.scopemounts.com/index.html.

I have not yet tried one of them, but am looking seriously at them.  I've never really been impressed by the B-Square mounts.  Just my personal, humble opinion, and worth everything you paid for it!
Regards,

WE

Glad to hear the Bsquare mounts worked for you. My copy of one I think will work now that I replaced both side screws with a bolt all the way through it to give it more strengh. Jim
