A couple of years ago, while my father and I were shooting at the pistol range were we go, there was something that I would call strange, or scary that happened. We were shooting, having a great time being the only ones there at the time, and someone drives/comes up to the shooting line; being there are "cease fires" every 15min, they had not been able to put a target out yet. There are a few metal plates strewn on the hills 30-50 yds from the shooting position. Remember, the range is like one big firing line, all the tables are in a row. So, this guy decided to shoot some of those plates up there, but he was around 8-12 tables to our right, and he is not lined up in a way down that far to get a clear shot at them. He's set up down there, puts a loaded mag into the pistol, cycles and is now ready to fire. Thinking in my head "this guy does not have any desire to heed any safety rules laid down by the range or in general", he comes waltzing down the firing line, gun at his hip basically, looking up to where he "wants" to shoot, all the while he's going WITH THE MUZZLE POINTED DOWN THE LINE IN OUR DIRECTION!!!
Not to mention, his finger was on the trigger, and the gun ready to fire. So he gets to where he wants to be so he's aligned enough to shoot the plates, puts the gun out, fires his clip, and returns to his table. Another thing, he had someone else with him, look like it may have been his son. He was not some young guy, the "father" looked in his 50s, and the "son" probably in his 20s. WOW!!! Now, take what I typed, and repeat it 2 or 3 times. There you have it; and the range master finally saw and handled him, but what an experience! The range master gave the command to him "KEEP ALL FIREARMS POINTED DOWN RANGE!!!" Well, he keeps it pointed the other way up the range (exact opposite from us, but still down the line), and looks as if he's wondering, whats goin' on. The R. Master tells him again, and the guy holds up the gun's mag after removing it as if he's asking "What?! The magazine is out, it (the gun) is unloaded, now what's the problem?" Finally got the guy to "comprehend" what the saftey rules are there, and got him under control.
Tell you one thing, not fun having a loaded gun pointed in your general direction. And after three times, I was ready to get this guy's rear kicked off the range.  Next time, I won't even let it get to first base; I see ANY GUN pointed where it SHOULD NOT BE, I'm getting the attention of the range master (if one is present), and will be especially cautious of the one behind the gun.
Stay safe out there.
