I picked up a yugo M59(century ufixemup) a while back with what appeared to be a bad barrel.  I ordered a chinese sks barrel and i removed the yugo barrel and installed the chinese barrel.  When it locked up it was 180 degrees off meaning the gas port was on the bottom and the extractor knotch was 180 degrees off too.  So it depends on where they started the threads when they threaded  the barrel and the reciever wether they will loc up in the correct position with everything lined up.  Don't forget there is dowel pin knotches too for the front and rear site  besides the gas port housing too.  Now i could redo the barrel to make it work with renotching the extractor slot and redo the dowel pin grooves but the problem starts with redrilling the gas port hole thru the chrome lining in the bore because it could chip ruining the barrel.  The russian barrels are chrome lined too a matter of fact all the other sks's have chromed lined barrels but the yugo's. After reassembing my yugo sks I found out the crap inside the barrel wasn't corrosive ammo I found out it was residue from either plastic or rubber bullets that was melted into the barrel.  After a few soakings and brushing with G.I. Rifle Bore Cleaner it seemed to melt away leaving me a perfect bore.  I let the rifle just sit in the gun safe growing roots because i thought it had a bad barrel for over a year.                                                                      BigBill

Thanks, Bill.    Yes I have heard that the Chinese barrels do not fit Yugo. receivers, 180 degree off forthread timeing. I have also heard that Yugos. are exact copies of early mfg. Russians. If this is true, the barrels should fit properly.Just wanted to know if any of you guys had any experiance with this swap. Thanks

Now you have me wondering?? Since the Russians taught the chinese hands on about how to manufacture and build the sks's it has me thinking the russian and chinese sks would be exactly the same. I'm not sure if the russians sold the machinery to the chinese too.  I'm not sure but it has me thinking.                                        BigBill
