« on: February 21, 2005, 06:49:33 PM »
Heres an easy one for you trappers;

I was thinking of trying to make some homemade items outta rabbit fur. Mittens, and mabie one of them trapper style hats. So, question time...

After skinning, what steps are need to keep the pelt in good condition for many years to come? Salting the "cape" is in the case of big game? Help..

 :-)

Salting will work BUT rabbit  fur doesnt hold up.  It  breaks and wears out very easily... It would be   good experience  though once you  got done so when you picked a fur that holds up better you would have experience in making  the hat or article .
