I certainly hope I can get these photo's in here. I got tired of not wanting to lay out $150 plus dollars for a downrigger I seldom need so decided to make my own. Not counting the weight and the gizmo that holds the line I've got about $20 in it. Trying for a photo of it here:

So far so good. I got the reel with line, about 80# at a yard sale for $5.
The mount bracket I made out of some scrap red oak I got from a mill I picked up at when I drove for a living.

The depth gauge I got from the Bi-Mart for $12 and the roller tip from Ace Hardware, $2

The rod is from an old broken one that was laying around. After I cut the rod down. I filled the end with some left over Micro Bed compound. Then I wrapped some mechanic's wire around the pulley and stuck it into the end enbedding it all in the bedding compound.
The holder is cut from red oak with a 1 1/8th hole for the rod handle and a hole down thru the top for a 16 penny nail as a lock. Not to hard to built yourself or I'll do one for you for an introductory price of $7000.00; try to remember, this is hand crafted by a Pollock in Ore!
