Barnes bullets in a factory load
« on: February 20, 2005, 12:16:21 AM »
Just bought a cz 550 in 6.5 swede. I don't reload yet but love barnes bullets. Does anybody make that in a factory load and which bullet do you recommend for whitetails?
I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on; I don't do these things to other people and I require the same from them.

:D
Well you are going to love this cartridge.
With factory loads you might think that the 6.5 is a bit of an over kill.
At least that what we though after killing a deer with the Hornady 160 round nose. Some of the new rifles do not take the long 160 bullet , which is used for animals the size of moose.
Never thought of using a Barnes bullet in the swede Should put them down with splender.
Right now the 140/160  loads suits my needs.
Happy

I am having a great time with 140 grn. Partition with RL-22.  2650 fps.  Very accurate and lays the deer down very short tracking, Feet.  Not a factory load.  If I was limited to factory I would look at the Hornady with 140 grn Interlock bullet.  The speed range of this load is in the sweet spot for the Interlock and the partition.  They fully expand, but don't frag that much in my use.  Dead is dead!  Thanks  Buckfever
