Mine really likes the 40 grain v-max and will tolerate the 50 grain tnts , most everything else wont shoot to my standards . I have had good success with both 4227 and 1680 powders .
A freind has had great success with the 35 grain v-max with lilgun and a pistol primer . I am about to try lil gun and my 40 grain v-max.

Had good success lately with 40gr V-Max poly coated and 35gr V-Max loaded in WW brass with CCI-500 small PISTOL primers and 12.8 gr of LilGun.  The powder charge is not quite max according to Hodgen's annual manual but is close..so advance with care.  Mine have shown no signs of excess pressure.  This charge is slightly compressed.  Also started sizing brass with Lee Collet die.  Last time out at 100yd, the 40gr V-Max shot a 5 shot group of .326    followed by a .586.  I'm no more than average, especially shooting off a bench and when I get inside an inch it's major news around here.  The .326 may be my best group ever with any kind of rifle and to think I did it with a 21" Contender carbine chambered in , of all things, the .22Hornet.  Good Luck with yours and keep us posted.
GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt

I was cleaning my barrel every 10 shots ( it's a new barrel and this was part of my break-in proceedure ).  The 40gr V-Max's didn't seem to care but they were poly coated.  I shot some Sierre 40grSP's and it would throw the first shot after cleaning.  Also shot some 35gr V-Max and the first shot was right with the rest.  My barrel was just luke warm through whole session.  I was surprised at how well the stubby little 35's grouped...better than the 40's at 50yd.  I ran out of them before I stated shooting at 100. Strange enough, The 40 V-max shot smaller groups at 100yd than at 50.   :?  :?

i shoot 35gr v-maxes 3100fps with 12.5gr of win. 296, and a small pistol primer.
In a 21inch 22 k-hornet barrel, contender carbine. it,s very accurate! often shoots half inch groups!

thanks for your help and suggestions.i probably will go to a lighter v-max bullet, but for now i worked up a load with the 50 grn v-max over 9 grns of h-110 at 75 yds a group of three will touch.if i try to push them faster i get flattened primers and the groups open to about 1 1/2 in.thanks again
