Buffalo Classic sights
« on: February 20, 2005, 03:30:38 AM »
I bought my Buffalo Classic used.I only got one insert for the front sight. From research I have done I believe the front sight is a Lyman #17.I found a set of inserts in the Midway catalog for the #17 I can order for $12.95.
Is this the correct front sight?A post is really the only thing I desire to have.I like the circle front insert but there are times when a post insert would be nice.
Question#1-Does anyone have an extra post they would like to sell for a few bucks?
Question #2- Would anyone(or more than one person) like to split a set of inserts with me?
There's seven inserts in a set.2 posts,one bead and 4 circles.
Question#3-Should old cheapie me just shut up and order the whole set?
Discussion invited.

Yes it is the #17
Question #3 yes, yes

That's what I did, try the others.  The crosshair was very accurate for me.

Sight inserts arrived

Today the post person dropped a package from Midway on the porch while I was at the range shooting the BC.When I got home I was happy to find among a few ither things I ordered that the sight inserts arrived.
There's seven inserts and one insert that is a clear yellow plastic disc with a hole in the center.
Three of them are varying height post images and four are circles with different diameters.
As there was no instructions with them, can anyone tell me anything concerning their use?
Oh I know you put them in the front sight for differing views.Thanks.

Stan, I would contact Lyman to see if they can send you any specific instructions for the use of the 17A sight inserts. They have a toll free number or scroll down the page to contact them thru the site.

Stan

The reason there is no instructions with them is because you find the insert that works best for you.  Some guys prefer the center post, others prefer the cross hair insert with center circle for their liking.  It is all in what you like and find that works best for you.  There are certain inserts that work best for silhouette shooters such as the crosshair with center circle.  You just got to find the one that works best for your target or hunting purposes.

I hope this helps.
