Tis a Williams WGRS H&R, got it from Raynor in the H&R classifieds, but H&R sells it, too, same one that comes on the BC. The front sight is a standard Handi 45-70 sight, but that's gonna change before I hunt with it.

It's all Deadeye's fault, he showed a pic of a 22" barreled handi with the mannlicher forend on it, I liked it a lot, too!!

No, just the plastic barrel band which has a set screw in it, and a sling swivel stud. Also has the spacer. The muzzle is in the pic right at the edge of the pic, I cropped it a little close!

I ordered one Tues. I think I'm gonna order one of those endcaps also, I've always liked that look, Now I just gotta decide which barrel it's gonna live on.

Peep Sight on NEF

I installed one on my 45/70 and found that it shot around 18" high at 25 yards with the factory front sight. I just took it off and put the factory rear sight back on. But will either machine a new front sight or order one in the future. What front sight height will get me in the ballpark.

This question has been asked in the past but I don't think it has ever been answered. What effect does the barrel band or end cap have on the accuracy. The majority of owners have had to add the "o-ring" fix to their rifles in order to free float the barrel. Wouldn't this barrel band or end cap negate the free-floating effect? If so, how do you overcome it? If it works fine, that would be great since I love the manlicher fore-end!
