SB2-F23....its here!!!!
« on: February 25, 2005, 04:21:46 AM »
Just now received a call from my dealer (at work no less).  My spankin' new ultra fluted varmint (.223) is waiting for me.  Lil' Ambush is gonne pee hisself :) .  Now, do I tell him tonight and suffer the consequences, or do I wait till I pick it up tomorrow??  Maybe I'll just leave work a little early and go get it today.....decisions, decisions. :D

So, is there a question here?

The only question should be this, is is going to be Lil'Amush's gun or yours that he can shoot? If it's going to be his it sure would be nice to go and pick it up together. That would be a trip that would be etched into his memory forever, going to the gunshop or sporting goods store, WITH HIS DAD, to pick up HIS new gun.
If it's your new gun and he will be allowed to shoot it, leave early and pick it up today!!! Never miss an opportunity to build memories with your children, those memories will be here long after you and I are gone, and I'll bet he even tells that story to his children and his grandchildren, all about how he and HIS DAD, went to pick up his new gun, surprise him, don't tell him where you are going, or make something up top get him to go, just drive there and get it, maybe even a hamburger and coke or pizza on the way home together...It's a chance not to be lost.
Got to go now, must have gotten something in my eyes, they are tearing up....<><....

I wonder if that means my dealer will be able to lay his hands on one in .204 pretty soon?  Supposedly he's been diligently working his suppliers since I asked him to find one 3 weeks ago.  According to HR CS, they were supposed to ship about now.  The wait is killing me :(

Have fun with it!

Well, I decided to leave work early to pick it up.  I bought some ammo while there.  Got home and handed the ammo to lil' ambush and told him it was for when his gun got here.  I asked him to go get something out of the car trunk and handed him the keys  .  Needless to say, I heard him whoop all the way in the kitchen!!  We took it apart and cleaned it real good and put on a scope I had lying around.  Tomorrow (Sunday) we'll take it out and see how he does.  I can't wait.  He really enjoys shooting.  Between my .270 ,.17HMR, .22's, varoius shotguns we us for skeet and now the .223, I'm gonna have to get a part time job to keep us in ammo    I don't mind spending for ammo, its something we totally love to do together.  Looks like I'm in for some heavy competition too, the kid's got a knack for shooting

Why ya holding out on us? :-)   Does she look as good in person as she does in the picture in the '05 catalog?

I got to admit, I wasn't real hot on the look of the new stock.  I have to say, it feels great though.  It comes with two +/- 1/2" spacers for LOP adjustment.  I took both out for the kid and now he shoulders it with no problem.  I definately need a better scope and ammo.  In my friends back yard, resting on the seat of the quad, shooting in the blowing wind and kneeling in the muddy snow, we were getting 8" groups at 50 yards with cheap wolf ammo  .  I'm sure I'll be able to turn this gun into a shooter.  We need a nice (warmer) day and some time at the range with a better scope, ammo and rest.  Something to look forward to.  All in all, we a happy so far but with a trigger job and other noted improvements, it should be much better.

P.S. The paperwork included say the gun was built with an extracter, not ejecter. Guess what...the empties fly out over my head.

That's probably not surprising since H&R has both styles of underlugs until they run out of the old style ejectors, they probably grabbed the wrong one in their welding shop........or ran out of the new style!!
