Questions on Police trade in shotgun
« on: February 24, 2005, 02:18:51 AM »
I tried searching for info on the forums to no avail, also hit Mossbergs site before posting here. I picked up a beater shotgun for home defense yesterday, it appears to be all stainless steel and aluminum. Even the internals. The trigger group housing is metal. Model designation is Mossberg 500 ATP, stamped on the side is:"Surete Du Quebec Police". It has been bounced around alot, but doesn't appear to have much of any wear on the internal parts (was dissassembled for cleaning), a friend told me this was typical french weapon: Never Used, dropped once.  :-) .
Can anyone give me any background on this gun,is it stainless or something else? Is it like the 590A1, IE: designed for military applications? It is by the way 5+1 with the 2 3/4 shotshells. It came with a pistol grip  ,but this will be replaced with a regular butt stock before I fire the darn thing. Oops,it is a 12 ga with an 18.5 inch barrel, bead sight. Any info much appreciated.

Thanks
