Reverting back to my old ways
« on: February 26, 2005, 07:47:07 AM »
ive spent the last couple years hunting hogs learning anything i could about these wonderful animals. ive tried so many different calibers, bows muzzle loaders with good success.  My heart has always been with a 30-30 I shot a Marlin 30AW cheap wal-mart version with a cheap tasco scope and cheap remington 170 gr corelokts and killed more hogs than with any of the other guns and bows combined.. sitting here looking at all my guns and different ammo  i realized  it has been fun and exciting using all of these. While looking for a new toy  the other day  i spotted a winchester 94 in the gun rack, ive always love marlins  and have quite a few marlins  i looked at it  cycled the action  loved the funish surprisingly  was not loose  or won out the guy said it had been shot very little.  i took it home with me.  i noticed it was extremely light and handy  at the range  it actually shot better than my trusty old marlin. now  i am looking for asome peep sights  and a fire sight of some sort for the front.  i love this little gun  i went to my old stand by hunting place and shot me a good pig dropped in its tracks on a slightly quartering shot punched it behind the shoulder angling forward.  i have a pic   but cant remember how to post it.  after this  I am going to stick with this one gun the next year and get back to usuing  my favorite little round  the 30-30. ive killed some huge hogs  with thick grissle oplates with a 30-30  i have never had onwe fasil to kill a pig as long as  i put my shot right in the vitals.
Hi  enjoy  hunting  guns    teaching  my  2  daughters  about  hunting  and  boxing
