Fly Reel ?
« on: May 25, 2003, 11:38:14 AM »
I have got a 8/9 weight fly rod that I use for salmon fishing. I am looking for a new fly reel for this rod because right now I have a cheapy on it with standard 40lb line to just flip and drift my flies. I am on a budget this year for my reel and I am looking for a good reel in the $40.00 to $100.00 price range. The reel will be used for all five different salmon. I was also wondering if anyone could explain the difference between a regular fly reel and one that is called an arbor reel.

all reels have arbors- youre asking about a large arbor im sure- these reels have a larger circumfrence for the line to wind on- which gives them a faster retreive rate and smoother operation of the drag. id reccomend looking in the cabelas catalog for a reel in that price range.
