The end to my 204 ammo problem is near
« on: March 02, 2005, 08:08:48 AM »
Thanks to Brown and ebay, my much lamented ammo problem is going away. With any luck 100 new winchester brass should be at my door today. The next question is do I start with the 32 of 40 Grain v-max's (no sierra's or bergers in country :(  yet).

Has the handi shown any preference at this point. I am thinking the 40's because of 2 reasons. The 40's seem to work better with the h4895 that I have in inventory, and since coyote season is basically over I would take the ballistically superior head.

As for powders I have read of good results with benchmark varget and w748. I am also tempted to try a blue dot version like the 223 loads found on www.jamescalhoon.com. What are you recommendations

I would go with the 40 Gr 'cause of the article I just read in Predator Extreme about the .204. The author said the heavier bullet has a better ballistic coefficient and is more resistant to wind.
As for powder, I love Varget after shooting a bunch of it through my .243
Ultra yesterday. WOW. See the post entitled .243 range report dated yesterday.
Ohhhh, I hate when that happens
