How do you install your sling?

I have seen the uncle mikes kit with the barrel band and long screw stud.
But I do not care for the barrel bands much and I have bent the long screw stud on my contenders.

I was thinking maybe I could use a contender grip cap stud ( sold at fox ridge outfitters) on the encore grip cap with a  larger washer under the nut then maybe drill out the forend and place another grip cap stud in the forend. Will this work or should I just go with the uncle mikes kit?

I use a hanger bar and rifle forearm. Forearm has 2 sling studs, one for sling and one for bipod if needed.

Rickyp,  I replaced my grip cap with a homemade version made out of 1/8" aluminum and installed it with larger wood screws (forget the actual size) , then used the short bolt thru stud.  Just didn't trust that plastic cap...had visions of my new Burris bouncing off a big rock.  GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt

Hopalong7,

I have the same fear. I got some aluminum diamond plate that I can cut and fit and then replace the plastic grip cap. it should look cool
